Wild bird treatment composition and methods

A product for the treatment of parasitic nematode infections in wild birds comprising:

• a fenbendazole premix comprising fenbendazole, a solvent, a solubilizing agent, and a premix grain carrier;
• and
• a grain formulation having a plurality of grains selected from the group consisting of ground corn, soybean meal, whole milo, wheat midds, and rice bran;
• prepared by a process comprising:
• mixing in an industrial ribbon mixer, to form a mixture, the premix and grain formulation,
• wherein the mixing fully integrates the fenbendazole within the grain formulation thereby yielding a fenbendazole concentration in the anthelmintic product of between 80 ppm and 120 ppm.

A method of preparing a composition for the treatment of parasitic nematode infections in wild birds comprising:

• mixing in an industrial ribbon mixer:
• a fenbendazole premix comprising fenbendazole, a solvent, a solubilizing agent, and a premix grain carrier;
• and
• a grain formulation having a plurality of grains selected from the group consisting of ground corn, soybean meal, whole milo, wheat midds, and rice bran;
• wherein the mixing fully integrates the fenbendazole within the grain formulation thereby yielding a fenbendazole concentration in the anthelmintic product of between 80 ppm and 120 ppm.

A method of treating parasitic nematode infections in wild birds comprising:

• collecting at least one sample from at least one targeted wild bird from a targeted area of a natural habitat having a plurality of targeted wild birds;
• testing the at least one collected sample to determine if the targeted birds are infected with parasites or another disease;
• determining the number of and location of treatment systems to be installed at sites in the targeted area that are needed to treat the plurality of targeted wild birds in the targeted area, wherein each treatment system includes a feeder suitable for holding a composition suitable for the targeted birds;
• charging the feeder with the composition to treat the targeted wild birds, wherein the composition comprises:
• a fenbendazole premix comprising fenbendazole, a solvent, a solubilizing agent, and a premix grain carrier;
• and
• a grain formulation having a plurality of grains selected from the group consisting of ground corn, soybean meal, whole milo, wheat midds, and rice bran;
• wherein the fenbendazole premix is integrated within the grain formulation thereby yielding a fenbendazole concentration in the composition of between 80 ppm and 120 ppm.
