Abstract
A method of implant a knee prosthesis includes forming a bone void at an end of a bone, implanting a void filler in the bone void, and implanting a knee prosthesis onto the end of the bone so that a stem of the knee prosthesis is received by the void filler.

(canceled)
A method of implanting a knee prosthesis in an end of a bone comprising:
- forming a bone void at an end of a bone using cylindrical and offset broach portions of a broach, the offset broach portion being connected to the cylindrical broach portion and having a tapering external surface;
- placing a stem of a knee prosthesis through a through-opening of a void filler, the void filler being made separately from the knee prosthesis and having an external geometry conforming to the bone void, the knee joint component having a condylar articular surface configured to articulate with a corresponding condylar articular surface of another knee joint component of the knee prosthesis;
- and
- implanting the void filler and the knee joint component so that an exterior surface of the void filler abuts the bone from within the bone void and the knee joint component is positioned on a resected end of the bone.
The method of claim 16, wherein connecting the broach to the elongate intramedullary member includes connecting the first broach portion to an offset adaptor connected to the intramedullary member so that the longitudinal axis of the first broach portion is offset from a longitudinal axis of the elongate intramedullary member.
A method of replacing a knee joint prosthesis in a revision knee arthroplasty comprising:
- removing a first knee joint prosthesis from an end of a bone;
- forming first and second pockets of a bone void using a broach, the first pocket having a predefined geometry that corresponds to a geometry of a first broach portion of the broach, the second pocket having a predefined geometry that corresponds to a geometry of a second broach portion of the broach, the geometry of the first and second broach portions being defined by exterior cutting surfaces thereof, the first broach portion extending along a longitudinal axis defined by an opening that extends entirely therethrough, the second broach portion being offset from the longitudinal axis of the first broach portion, the exterior cutting surface of the first broach portion being a partial surface of revolution about the longitudinal axis, and the exterior cutting surface of the second broach portion tapering inwardly from a first to a second end thereof;
- inserting a void filler into the bone void so that a first member of the void filler is disposed in the first pocket and a second member of the void filler is disposed in the second pocket;
- and
- implanting a second knee joint prosthesis onto the end of the bone adjacent the void filler.
The method of claim 17, wherein connecting the broach to the intramedullary member via the offset adaptor includes connecting the offset adaptor to the opening that extends through the first broach portion.
