Abstract
The present invention generally relates to an x-ray source and specifically to an x-ray source suitable for large area x-ray generation. The invention also relates to a system comprising such an x-ray source.
Claims15
An x-ray source configured to provide an omnidirectional transmission of x-ray radiation, the x-ray source comprising:
- an anode;
- a field emission cathode;
- an evacuated chamber transparent to x-ray radiation, the anode and the field emission cathode being arranged inside of the evacuated envelope,
- wherein the evacuated envelope is an extended tube shaped evacuated chamber, the field emission cathode is arranged adjacently to an inside surface of the extended tube shaped evacuated chamber, and the anode is centrally arranged inside of the extended tube shaped evacuated chamber.
