Abstract
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for regulating expression of heterologous nucleotide sequences in a plant. Compositions include a novel nucleotide sequence for regulatory elements from Lamium Leaf Distortion Associated Virus. A method for expressing a heterologous nucleotide sequence in a plant using the regulatory element sequences disclosed herein is provided. The method comprises transforming a plant or plant cell with a nucleotide sequence operably linked to one of the regulatory elements of the present disclosure.

A recombinant polynucleotide selected from:
- (a) a polynucleotide having at least 85 percent sequence identity to the nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or,
- (b) a polynucleotide comprising the nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1,
- (c) the polynucleotide of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and
- (c) a fragment of SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
A DNA construct;
- comprising
- (a) a regulatory element polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a polynucleotide having at least 85 percent sequence identity to the nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1,
- (ii) a polynucleotide comprising the nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1
- (iii) the polynucleotide of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and
- (iv) a fragment of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and
- (b) a heterologous transcribable polynucleotide molecule operably linked to the regulatory element polynucleotide.
