Abstract
A sealing blade includes opposite elongated edges (30, 31) and between them a flat (32) and which is adaptable to a blade holder (17) arranged in a coating applicator (25) of a coating device (21) and into contact with a moving surface (11′). The sealing blade has a contact surface (33), which may be arranged against the moving surface and which is 5-15% of the width (W) of the sealing blade (10).

1-9. (canceled)
A structure for sealing the upstream side of an application chamber of a coating applicator of a coating device in a paper or board coating applicator wherein the structure is arranged to directly engage a moving surface, so that a portion of the structure slides on the moving surface, the structure comprising:
- a sealing blade having a width defined between an elongated back edge and an elongated front edge which are opposed, and between the back edge and the front edge, a first blade surface, and an opposed second blade surface;
- at least one first bend or rounding formed in the sealing blade between the back edge and the front edge which divides each of the first blade surface and the second blade surface into a first part terminating at the back edge and a second part terminating at the front edge, such that the first blade surface is convex and the second blade surface is concave;
- wherein the sealing blade has a fastening area adjacent the back edge;
- wherein the back edge is arranged, along with the fastening area, to be mounted to an elongated blade holder in a coating applicator of a coating device;
- wherein the front edge terminates a contact surface formed on the first surface, and wherein the front edge is arranged to lie along a moving surface so that at least a portion of the contact surface is in contact with the moving surface and extends along the moving surface in a direction defined by a direction in which the moving surface moves;
- wherein the portion of the contact surface in contact with the moving surface is 5-15% of the width of the sealing blade.
A structure for sealing the upstream side of an application chamber of a coating applicator of a coating device in a paper or board coating applicator wherein the structure is arranged to directly engage a moving roll surface, so that a portion of the structure slides on the moving roll surface, the structure comprising:
- a metal sealing blade having a width defined between an elongated back edge and an elongated front edge which are opposed, and between the back edge and the front edge, a first blade surface and an opposed second blade surface;
- at least one first bend formed in the sealing blade between the back edge and the front edge which divides each of the first blade surface and the second blade surface into first parts terminating at the back edge and second parts terminating at the front edge;
- wherein the at least one first bend is such that the first blade surface is convex and the second blade surface is concave;
- wherein the sealing blade has a fastening area adjacent the back edge;
- wherein the back edge is arranged, along with the fastening area, to be mounted to an elongated blade holder in a coating applicator of a coating device;
- and
- portions of the first blade surface second part which define a contact surface extending from the front edge, wherein the contact surface is arranged to lie along a moving roll surface of a roll so that at least a portion of the contact surface forms a seal with the moving roll surface and extends along the moving roll surface in a direction defined by a direction in which the roll rotates.
