Abstract
A sprocket adapted to be used in a drive unit of a chain conveyor for underground mining applications is disclosed. The sprocket may have a cylindrical body. The cylindrical body may have a front face, an axis of rotation (A-A′), and a lateral surface. The sprocket may also have a scraping member provided on the front face. The scraping member may scrape off deposits during rotation of the sprocket.
Claims20
A sprocket adapted to be used in a drive unit of a chain conveyor for underground mining applications, the sprocket comprising:
- a cylindrical body having a front face, an axis of rotation, and a lateral surface;
- and
- a scraping member provided on the front face, and configured to scrape off deposits during rotation of the sprocket.
A bearing housing adapted to be used in a drive unit of a chain conveyor for underground mining applications, the bearing housing comprising:
- a cylindrical body including a front face and a lateral surface;
- and
- a scraping member provided on the front face.
A scraping member provided on a cylindrical body including a lateral surface, an axis of rotation (A-A′), a front face, and a circumferential inner face, the scraping member being configured to scrape off deposits during rotation of the cylindrical body, the scraping member comprising:
- at least one radial scraping edge provided on the front face of the cylindrical body, the at least one radial scraping edge including a first end and a second end,
- wherein the first end and the second end have different radial distances from the axis of rotation (A-A′), and
- wherein the first end and the second end confine a polar angle α of 0°≦α<180°.
A drive unit comprising:
- a bearing housing for accommodating a bearing, the bearing being configured to support a drive shaft of the drive unit;
- a sprocket operably connected to the drive shaft, the sprocket including:
- a cylindrical body having a front face, an axis of rotation (A-A′), and a lateral surface;
- a scraping member provided on the front face, and configured to scrape off deposits during rotation of the sprocket;
- and
- a central bore with a circumferential inner face, the sprocket being rotatable relative to the bearing housing and separated from the bearing housing by a seal gap,
- wherein the bearing housing further comprises an annular protrusion with a circumferential outer face configured to extend at least partially into the central bore of the sprocket, and
- wherein the circumferential outer face and the circumferential inner face overlap by at least 20 mm.
