Abstract
A method and composition for doped HTS tapes having directional flux pinning and critical current.
Claims20
A method of using a superconducting tape, comprising:
- applying a magnetic field parallel to a surface of a superconducting tape, wherein the magnetic field is applied at about 0.1 T and the superconducting tape comprises a plurality of nanocolumns oriented perpendicular to the surface of the superconducting tape;
- generating, in response to the applying the magnetic field, a critical current;
- removing the magnetic field;
- and
- retaining, subsequent to the removing of the magnetic field, at least 90% of the critical current.

A method using a superconducting tape, comprising:
- applying a magnetic field parallel to a surface of a superconducting tape, wherein the magnetic field is applied at about 0.5 T and the superconducting tape comprises a buffer disposed on a substrate, a superconductor disposed on the buffer, and a plurality of nanocolumns oriented perpendicular to the surface of the superconducting tape;
- generating, in response to the applying the magnetic field, a first critical current;
- removing the magnetic field;
- and
- removing the magnetic field;
- and
- retaining, subsequent to the removing of the magnetic field, at least 50% of the critical current.

- applying a magnetic field parallel to a surface of a superconducting tape comprising a plurality of nanocolumns oriented perpendicular to the surface, wherein the magnetic field is applied at about 1 T;
- generating, in response to the applying the magnetic field, a first critical current;
- removing the magnetic field;
- and
- retaining, subsequent to the removing of the magnetic field, at least 30% of the critical current.
