Abstract
A composite liquid-retentive substrate for a hygiene article comprises a base layer of first liquid-absorptive material. The base layer having a posterior end and a diametrically opposed anterior end interconnected by an intermediate tapered region. The posterior end has opposing posterior corners and the anterior end has opposing anterior corners. A posterior liquid-flow abutment comprising second absorptive material is disposed substantially around a perimeter of the posterior end. At least one anterior liquid-flow abutment comprising second absorptive material is disposed proximate one of the anterior corners of the anterior end.

A composite liquid-retentive substrate for a hygiene article, the composite liquid-retentive substrate comprising:
- a base layer comprising first liquid-absorptive material having a substantially triangular posterior end and a diametrically opposed smaller substantially triangular anterior end interconnected by an intermediate tapered region, said posterior end having opposing posterior corners and said anterior end having opposing anterior corners;
- and
- at least one of
- a substantially triangular-shaped posterior liquid-flow abutment comprising second absorptive material disposed around a perimeter of said posterior end including said posterior corners extending to an open apex proximate said intermediate tapered region thereby resulting in a wide-based, narrow-opening, U-shaped configuration;
- and
- at least one distinct substantially triangular-shaped anterior liquid-flow abutment comprising said second absorptive material disposed at a respective one of said anterior corners of said anterior end.
