Abstract
A degradable composite composition including polyglycolic acid and a boron-containing accelerator, and methods of using the same (for example, as a constituent of a treatment fluid of a subterranean formation) are described. The degradable composite composition may be a composition that degrades in environments typically encountered downhole, such as oilfield environments/conditions and/or fluids.
Claims21
A method for treating a subterranean formation, comprising:
- injecting, into a downhole environment, a fluid comprising:
- a degradable composite material comprising polyglycolic acid, a boron-containing accelerator, and a metal salt or an ester of a fatty acid;
- forming a plug comprising the degradable composite material at a first location in the subterranean formation;
- diverting the fluid to a second location in the subterranean formation;
- and
- removing the plug formed in the first location in the subterranean formation.
