Abstract
The invention is related to a method and vibratory apparatus for the improved solid-liquid filtration of filter cakes, especially for dewatering finely divided thixotropic filter cakes, with the aid of a vibratory apparatus. Further, the invention relates to a filtration apparatus having a vibratory apparatus as described herein, and to the use of the vibratory apparatus for the solid-liquid filtration of filter cakes.
Claims31
A method for the improved solid-liquid filtration of a filter cake in a filtration apparatus, comprising the steps of:
- providing a filter;
- passing a solid-liquid mixture through the filter to form a filter cake on the filter;
- vibrating a first portion of the filter cake while a second portion of the filter cake remains undisturbed.
A vibratory apparatus for improved solid-liquid filtration of a filter cake in a filtration apparatus, comprising:
- a vibratory body positioned to contact or protrude into the filter cake so that it only causes a potion of the filter cake to vibrate;
- a vibratory drive operatively connected to the vibratory body and adapted to cause the vibratory body to vibrate;
- wherein the vibratory drive and vibratory body are vibrationally decoupled from the filter apparatus.
A filtration apparatus comprising:
- a filter housing;
- a filter mounted in the filter housing;
- and
- a vibratory apparatus vibrationally decoupled from the filter housing, the vibratory apparatur comprising:
- a vibratory body positioned to contact or protrude into the filter cake so that it only causes a potion of the filter cake to vibrate;
- and
- a vibratory drive operatively connected to the vibratory body and adapted to cause the vibratory body to vibrate.
