Abstract
A method for recovering synthetic oils from a feed stream, the method comprising separating at least a portion of the non-synthetic oil constituents from a commingled stream to produce a partially purified synthetic oil stream and one or more contaminant streams. Extracting at least a portion of the synthetic oil from the partially purified synthetic oil stream to produce a synthetic oil stream and a second contaminant stream.
Claims20
A method for recovering synthetic oils from a feed stream, the method comprising:
- separating at least a portion of the non-synthetic oil constituents from a commingled stream producing a partially purified synthetic oil stream and one or more contaminant streams;
- and
- extracting at least a portion of the synthetic oil from the partially purified synthetic oil stream to produce a synthetic oil stream and a second contaminant stream.
A system for recovering synthetic oil from a feed stream comprising:
- a first stage comprising a plurality of distillation systems, each distillation system configured to remove compounds having a predetermined boiling point or molecular weight from a commingled stream to generate an intermediate stream;
- a solvent extraction stage comprising a solvent extraction system configured to receive the intermediate stream and to extract one or more synthetic oil compounds from the intermediate stream using a solvent;
- and
- a dehydrator stage coupled to the solvent extraction stage, the dehydrator stage configured to generate solvent having less than one percent dissolved water for use in the solvent extraction system.
