Gas sensor and gas sensor manufacturing method

A method of manufacturing a gas sensor including a sensor element for detecting a predetermined measurement target gas component in a measurement gas, the method comprising the steps of:

• a) bringing a brim portion provided at one end portion of an outer surface of a protective cover which protects one end portion side of said sensor element into contact with a contact surface provided in a housing which houses said sensor element;
• and
• b) in a state where said brim portion is in contact with said contact surface by said step a), bending a swaging portion which extends from said contact surface in said housing to hold said brim portion between said swaging portion and said contact surface, so that said protective cover and said housing are fixed, wherein
• said brim portion after being subjected to at least said step b) is tilted at a tilt angle of 5° or more and 15° or less relative to a plane vertical to a central axis of said gas sensor.
