Abstract
Embodiments of a user station (STA), access point (AP) and methods for operating a STA and AP in a wireless network are general described herein. In some embodiments, the STA includes processing circuitry and physical layer (PHY) circuitry to detect a Dedicated Short Range Communications Service (DSRC) transmission on a wireless communication channel in a frequency spectrum comprising 5 GHz. The STA can also transmit a report message to report the DSRC transmission responsive to detecting DSRC transmission. Other embodiments and methods are also described.

1-21. (canceled)
A wireless communication station (STA) for operating in a wireless communication network, the STA comprising processing circuitry and physical layer (PHY) circuitry configured to:
- detect a Dedicated Short Range Communications Service (DSRC) transmission on a wireless communication channel in a frequency spectrum comprising 5 GHz;
- and
- transmit a report message to report the DSRC transmission responsive to the detecting.
A system comprising:
- one or more antennas arranged to receive a signal on a wireless communication channel in a frequency spectrum comprising 5850-5925 MHz;
- one or more processors configured to
- detect a Dedicated Short Range Communications Service (DSRC) transmission on a wireless communication channel in the frequency spectrum;
- and
- physical layer (MY) circuitry arranged to transmit a report message to report the DSRC transmission responsive to the detecting.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors to perform operations to configure a wireless communication station (STA) to:
- detect a Dedicated Short Range Communications Service (DSRC) transmission on a wireless communication channel in a frequency spectrum comprising 5 GHz;
- and
- transmit a report message to report the DSRC transmission responsive to the detecting.
An access point (AP) for operating in a wireless communication network, the AP comprising:
- physical layer (PHY) circuitry to:
- receive a message reporting the existence of a Dedicated Short Range Communications Service (DSRC) transmission on a wireless communication channel in a frequency spectrum comprising 5 GHz;
- and
- processing circuitry to:
- perform a coexistence technique upon receiving the report.
A method, performed by a user station (STA), for operating in a wireless network, the method comprising:
- detecting a Dedicated Short Range Communications Service (DSRC) transmission on a wireless communication channel in a frequency spectrum comprising 5 GHz;
- and
- transmitting a report message to report the DSRC transmission responsive to the detecting.
