Live partition mobility using ordered memory migration

A computer program product for enabling live partition mobility using ordered memory migration, the computer program product comprising:

• one or more computer readable storage media and program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, the program instructions comprising instructions to:
• receive a request to initialize a migration of a logical partition (LPAR) to a destination system;
• create a list, wherein the list comprises one or more memory page identifiers corresponding to memory pages of the LPAR, wherein the one or more memory page identifiers of the list are ordered according to a page transfer priority;
• identify memory pages of the LPAR that will be unmodified during an estimated duration of time of the migration;
• update the list, based on, at least, the identified memory pages of the LPAR that will be unmodified during the estimated duration of time of the migration;
• and
• migrate the LPAR based on, at least, the list.

A computer system for enabling live partition mobility using ordered memory migration, the computer system comprising:

• one or more computer processors, one or more computer readable storage media, and program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more processors, the program instructions comprising instructions to:
• receive a request to initialize a migration of a logical partition (LPAR) to a destination system;
• create a list, wherein the list comprises one or more memory page identifiers corresponding to memory pages of the LPAR, wherein the one or more memory page identifiers of the list are ordered according to a page transfer priority;
• identify memory pages of the LPAR that will be unmodified during an estimated duration of time of the migration;
• update the list, based on, at least, the identified memory pages of the LPAR that will be unmodified during the estimated duration of time of the migration;
• and
• migrate the LPAR based on, at least, the list.
