Abstract
The present invention relates to a nutritional composition comprising an oligosaccharide mixture, said oligosaccharide mixture comprising at least one N-acetylated oligosaccharide, one galacto-oligosaccharide and one sialylated oligosaccharide for use in reducing the metabolic stress in an infant in the first twelve months of life and/or decreasing gut permeability in an infant in the first twelve months of life and/or promoting a rate of growth in an infant fed with said nutritional composition in the first twelve months of life which approximates to the rate of growth of a breast-fed infant at the same age.

A method for reducing the metabolic stress in an infant in the first twelve months of life comprising administering to the infant a nutritional composition comprising an oligosaccharide mixture, the oligosaccharide mixture comprising at least one N-acetylated oligosaccharide, one galacto-oligosaccharide and one sialylated oligosaccharide.
A method for decreasing the gut permeability in an infant in the first twelve months of life comprising administering to the infant a nutritional composition comprising an oligosaccharide mixture, the oligosaccharide mixture comprising at least one N-acetylated oligosaccharide, one galacto-oligosaccharide and one sialylated oligosaccharide.
A method for promoting a rate of growth in the first twelve months of life in an infant fed with said nutritional composition which approximates to the rate of growth of a breast-fed infant at the same age comprising administering to the infant a nutritional composition comprising an oligosaccharide mixture, the oligosaccharide mixture comprising at least one N-acetylated oligosaccharide, one galacto-oligosaccharide and one sialylated oligosaccharide.
