Abstract
A topical pharmaceutical composition containing diacerein and/or its analogs is provided. Also provided is a method for treating various diseases using this topical pharmaceutical composition.

A topical pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of diacerein, rhein, monoacetylrhein, and salts or esters or prodrugs thereof, and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, wherein the composition is in the form of ointment, cream, or gel, and at least about 90% by volume of the compound has a particle size of about 0.5 to about 35 μm.
A topical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of diacerein, rhein, monoacetylrhein, and salts or esters or prodrugs thereof, and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, wherein the composition is in the form of gel, and at least about 90% by volume of the compound has a particle size of less than about 1 μm.
