Abstract
Absorbent articles comprising a multilayer outer cover comprising a first outer layer and a second outer layer comprising a component that exhibits at least partial elastic recovery after mechanical activation in the machine direction; an inner layer, disposed between the first outer layer and the second outer layer, the inner layer comprising elastic strands; and wherein at least one of the first outer layer and second outer layer is laminated to the inner layer.
Claims28
An absorbent article comprising:
- a topsheet;
- an outer cover;
- and
- an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the outer cover;
- wherein the outer cover comprises a multilayer substrate comprising:
- a first outer layer and a second outer layer, wherein at least one of the first or second outer layers comprises a component that exhibits at least partial elastic recovery after mechanical activation in the machine direction;
- an inner layer, disposed between the first outer layer and the second outer layer, the inner layer comprising elastic strands;
- and
- wherein at least one of the first outer layer and second outer layer is laminated to the inner layer.
A method for producing an outer cover, comprising the steps of
- a) providing a first outer layer and a second outer layer, wherein at least one of the first or second outer layers comprises a component that exhibits at least partial elastic recovery after mechanical activation in the machine direction;
- b) providing an inner layer comprising elastic strands;
- c) stretching at least one of the outer layers;
- d) bonding the inner layer between the first outer layer and the second outer layer.
An absorbent article comprising:
- a topsheet;
- an outer cover;
- and
- an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the outer cover;
- wherein the outer cover comprises a multilayer substrate comprising:
- a first outer layer and a second outer layer, wherein at least one of the first or second outer layers comprises a component that exhibits at least partial elastic recovery after mechanical activation in the machine direction;
- and
- an inner layer, disposed between the first outer layer and the second outer layer, the inner layer comprising elastic strands;
- wherein the outer cover further comprises a waistband region, having a first differential in the percent recovery between the outer layer that exhibits at least partial elastic recovery after mechanical activation in the machine direction and the inner layer;
- and a chassis region, having a second differential in the percent recovery between the outer layer that exhibits at least partial elastic recovery after mechanical activation in the machine direction and the inner layer;
- and
- wherein the first differential is greater than the second differential.
