Hybrid straight cup impactor

An orthopedic impactor, comprising:

• a) an elongated housing extending along a longitudinal axis A-A having a housing proximal section spaced from a housing distal end, a housing intermediate section therebetween, a prosthetic cup engagement portion located at the housing distal end;
• b) a handle having a handle proximal end spaced from a handle distal end, the handle distal end connected to the housing proximal section;
• c) a drive train having opposed drive train distal and proximal ends at least partially disposed within the housing and within the cup engagement portion, the drive train comprising a connection rod that extends along longitudinal axis A-A from a connection rod proximal end to a connection rod distal portion having a ram distal end at the drive train distal end, wherein the ram distal end is detachably connectable to an orthopedic prosthetic cup;
• and
• d) wherein rotation of the connection rod at the drive train proximal end causes a connected orthopedic prosthetic cup to travel in an axial direction along longitudinal axis A-A.
