Abstract
A surgical guide assembly includes a body having an opening formed at least partially therethrough. An arm extends from the body. A joint is positioned at least partially in the arm. The joint includes an outer ring and an inner ring. The inner ring is configured to move with respect to the outer ring such that an angle between a central longitudinal axis through the inner ring varies with respect to a central longitudinal axis through the outer ring.
Claims20
A surgical guide assembly, comprising:
- a body having an opening formed at least partially therethrough;
- an arm extending from the body;
- a joint positioned at least partially in the arm, wherein the joint comprises:
- an outer ring;
- and
- an inner ring, wherein the inner ring is configured to move with respect to the outer ring such that an angle between a central longitudinal axis through the inner ring varies with respect to a central longitudinal axis through the outer ring.
A surgical guide assembly, comprising:
- a body having an opening formed at least partially therethrough;
- a rod at least partially positioned in the opening in the body;
- a trackable feature coupled to the rod;
- an arm extending from the body;
- a joint positioned at least partially in the arm, wherein the joint comprises:
- an outer ring;
- an inner ring, wherein the inner ring is configured to move with respect to the outer ring such that an angle between a central longitudinal axis through the inner ring varies with respect to a central longitudinal axis through the outer ring, and wherein the central longitudinal axis through the outer ring is oriented at an angle from about 1 degree to about 85 degrees with respect to a central longitudinal axis through the opening in the body;
- and
- a sleeve positioned at least partially in the inner ring, wherein the sleeve is configured to move with respect to the outer ring, and wherein an opening is formed through the sleeve.
A method for attaching a surgical guide assembly to a bone, comprising:
- placing the surgical guide assembly against the bone or soft tissue covering the bone, wherein the surgical guide assembly comprises:
- a body having an opening formed at least partially therethrough;
- an arm extending from the body;
- a joint positioned at least partially in the arm, wherein the joint comprises:
- an outer ring;
- and
- an inner ring, wherein the inner ring is configured to move with respect to the outer ring such that an angle between a central longitudinal axis through the inner ring varies with respect to a central longitudinal axis through the outer ring;
- and
- inserting a first screw into an opening in the inner ring and at least partially into the bone, wherein the first screw couples the surgical guide assembly to the bone.
