Abstract
A method and system for applying and reading a fractal image to and from a plurality of objects to act as an identification label is provided. The system includes a printer for printing a fractal pattern to the plurality of objects and a reader for reading the printed fractal pattern. Such a fractal image is robust to printing and imaging difficulties and inconsistencies, and is difficult to copy, thus defending against counterfeiting.
Claims15
A system for reading an identifier from an object, comprising:
- an imaging apparatus for imaging a portion of a fractal image from the object;
- a processor for determining one or more attributes of the fractal image;
- and
- a comparator for comparing one or more expected attributes of the imaged fractal image with one or more determined corresponding attributes of the imaged fractal image.
A method for reading an identifier from an object, comprising the steps of:
- imaging a portion of a fractal image from the object by an imaging apparatus;
- determining one or more attributes of the fractal image;
- and
- comparing one or more expected attributes of the imaged fractal image with one or more determined corresponding attributes of the imaged fractal image.
A non-transitory recording medium having a computer program stored thereon, the computer program causing a computing device to perform the steps of:
- imaging a portion of a fractal image from the object by an imaging apparatus;
- determining one or more attributes of the fractal image;
- and
- comparing one or more expected attributes of the imaged fractal image with one or more determined corresponding attributes of the imaged fractal image.
