Abstract
An apparatus for dispersing liquid flame retardant mixtures mounts in the bucket of mine scoop. The apparatus has a housing which is generally sized to fit within a mine scoop bucket while leaving space in the bucket for moving mine material. The housing has a reservoir within it for holding a fire prevention mixture. The mixture is a liquid mixture and the apparatus has a motor, pump, tubes, and nozzles for dispersing the fire prevention mixture. The apparatus accommodates a hydraulic cylinder for moving the mixture dispersing apparatus back and forth within the scoop bucket. Some embodiments of the apparatus have a front face with scraper blade elements that operate as a scraper blade similar to scraper blades in scoop buckets that do not have the apparatus in place.
Claims11
An apparatus for dispersing from a material scoop a liquid mixture for dust control in a mine, the material scoop having a closed back, an open front, two sides, and a bottom connecting the back and two sides and being operated by an operator external to the material scoop, said apparatus comprising:
- a housing located within the material scoop, said housing having a front surface facing the open front of the material scoop, the width of said housing being less than the internal width of the material scoop between the sides of the material scoop, and the length of said housing being a fraction of the length of the material scoop from back to front;
- a reservoir within said housing for holding the liquid mixture;
- a nozzle mounted externally on said housing;
- a hose for conducting the liquid mixture from said reservoir to said nozzle;
- a pump connected to said hose to pump the liquid mixture from said reservoir through said hose to said nozzle, said pump being controlled by an operator external from the material scoop;
- and,
- a hydraulic cylinder and rod connected between said housing and the back of the material scoop, said hydraulic cylinder and rod controlling the position of said housing within the material scoop and being controlled by an operator external from the material scoop.
An apparatus for dispersing a liquid mixture for dust control in a mine, the apparatus dispersing the liquid mixture from a material scoop, the scoop having a closed back, an open front, two sides, and a bottom connecting the back and two sides, and having a scraper blade for ejecting material from the scoop, said apparatus comprising:
- a housing mounted to the scraper blade between the scraper blade and the back of the scoop, the width of said housing being sized to fit between the sides of the scoop, and the length of said housing being a fraction of the length of the scoop from back to front;
- a reservoir within said housing for holding the liquid mixture;
- a nozzle mounted externally on said housing;
- a hose for conducting the liquid mixture from said reservoir to said nozzle;
- a pump connected to said hose to pump the liquid mixture from said reservoir through said hose to said nozzle, said pump being controlled by an operator external from the scoop.
An apparatus for dispersing a liquid mixture for dust control in a mine in combination with a material scoop, wherein:
- said material scoop comprises a closed back, an open front, two sides, and a bottom connecting the back and two sides, said material scoop operated by an operator external to said material scoop;
- and,
- said apparatus is located within said material scoop and comprises a housing, a reservoir, a nozzle, a hose, a pump, and a hydraulic rod and cylinder;
- said housing being located within said material scoop and having a front surface facing the open front of the material scoop, the width of said housing being approximately the internal width of the material scoop between the sides of the material scoop, and the length of said housing being a fraction of the length of the material scoop from back to front;
- said reservoir being located within said housing and holding the liquid mixture;
- said nozzle being mounted externally on said housing;
- said hose conducting the liquid mixture from said reservoir to said nozzle;
- said pump being connected to said hose to pump the liquid mixture from said reservoir through said hose to said nozzle, said pump being controlled by an operator external from the material scoop;
- and,
- said hydraulic cylinder and rod being connected between said housing and the back of said material scoop, said hydraulic cylinder and rod controlling the position of said housing within said material scoop and being controlled by an operator external from said material scoop.
