Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for prevention of premature polymerization during the preparation, purification, transportation and storage of a polymerizable compound with at least one conjugated unsaturated group in the presence of an azine dye-based compound as inhibitor. Further the present invention relates to methods of preparing such inhibitors as well as to the inhibitors itself, as well as to methods of improving solubility and stability of dissolved inhibitors.
Claims15
A method to prevent a premature polymerization of a polymerizable compound with at least one conjugated unsaturated group comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing the polymerizable compound, or providing a reaction mixture with starting components required for the formation of the polymerizable compound,
- (b) adding a salt of an azine dye-based compound to said polymerizable compound and
- (c) adding a sulfonate salt to said polymerizable compound to obtain a mixture.
An azine dye-based compound having the general formula (ADX):
- wherein:
- Y is S,
- R1-R4 is methyl,
- R5-R10 is hydrogen and
- X− is any anion selected from the group consisting of CH3(CH2)nSO3−, with n being an integer of from 6 to 30, preferably 7 to 20, in particular CH3(CH2)7SO3−, CH3(CH2)15SO3−, CH3(CH2)11SO3−, or an organic sulfonate comprising an hydroxyl substituted aromatic moiety, in particular 3-(2,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-phenoxy)-propane-1-sulfonate.
