## Abstract

A bore cleaning device is disclosed that is configured to clean a bore of a firearm. Devices disclosed herein receive force manually applied by the user to push, pull, or propel the device through the bore. The device includes an internal mechanism configured to translate one of a pushing force and a pulling force into an outward radial force forcing intimate contact between device surfaces and interior walls of the bore.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An apparatus comprising a bore cleaning device configured to clean a bore of a firearm, the device comprising:
an internal mechanism configured to translate one of a pushing force and a pulling force into an outward radial force forcing intimate contact between device surfaces and interior walls of the bore.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a pole applying the pushing force upon the device.

### Claim 3

An apparatus comprising a bore cleaning device configured to clean a bore of a firearm, the device comprising:
an internal mechanism configured to receive a pulling force and apply an outward radial force forcing intimate contact between device surfaces and interior walls of the bore.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the internal mechanism comprises:
a force sensor monitoring a pulling force being applied to the device; and
an electronically controlled motor, wherein rotation of the motor controls the outward radial force based upon the monitored pulling force.

### Claim 5

An apparatus comprising a bore cleaning device configured to clean a bore of a firearm, the device comprising:
a cord; and
an internal mechanism configured to translate a pulling force applied by the cord into an outward radial force forcing intimate contact between device surfaces and interior walls of the bore.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The apparatus of claim 5, further comprising a plurality of expanding panels.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The apparatus of claim 6, further comprising cleaning materials attached to the expanding panels

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The apparatus of claim 6, further comprising cleaning materials surrounding the expanding panels.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the internal mechanism comprises ramp structures configured to translate the pulling force into the outward radial force pushing the expanding panels outwardly.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising a spring loaded plunger comprising a portion of the ramp structures, wherein the plunger moves forward in the device to activate the ramp structures.

### Claim 11 (depends on 5)

The apparatus of claim 5, further comprising:
a forward end cap;
a rearward end cap;
a plurality of flexible legs connected to the forward end cap and the rearward end cap; and
cleaning materials surrounding the flexible legs;
wherein the cord is connected to the rearward end cap; and
wherein the pulling force pulls the rearward end cap toward the forward end cap and bends the flexible legs, the bending flexible legs creating the outward radial force upon the cleaning materials.

### Claim 12 (depends on 5)

The apparatus of claim 5, further comprising:
a plurality of expanding panels; and
a plurality of cam mechanisms;
wherein the cord is connected to the cam mechanisms; and
wherein the pulling force pulls activates the cam mechanisms to rotate against and apply the outward radial force against the expanding panels.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The apparatus of claim 12, further comprising cleaning materials attached to the expanding panels

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The apparatus of claim 12, further comprising cleaning materials surrounding the expanding panels.

### Claim 15 (depends on 5)

The apparatus of claim 5, further comprising:
a plurality of expanding panels comprising panel activating magnets; and
a magnet carrier situated outside of the bore providing a magnetic force upon the activating magnets and apply the outward radial force against the expanding panels.
