Abstract
Disclosed is a nutritional composition for use in modulating or reducing inflammation in an adult or elderly individual in need thereof. In some aspects, the nutritional composition comprises a neutral human milk oligosaccharide.

A nutritional composition for use in modulating or reducing inflammation in an adult or elderly individual in need thereof, the nutritional composition comprising at least one neutral human milk oligosaccharide in a concentration of from about 0.001 mg/mL to about 25 mg/mL.
A nutritional composition for modulating inflammation in an adult or elderly individual in need thereof, the composition comprising a neutral human milk oligosaccharide in a concentration ranging from about 0.001 mg/mL to about 10 mg/mL, a long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid in a concentration that does not exceed about 5% of total fat content in the nutritional composition, and a carotenoid in a concentration from about 0.001 μg/mL to about 10 μg/mL.
A method of modulating or reducing inflammation in an adult or elderly individual in need thereof, the method comprising administering a synthetic nutritional composition comprising at least one neutral human milk oligosaccharide in a concentration of from about 0.001 mg/mL to about 25 mg/mL.
