Abstract
A communication connector has a housing for receiving a communication plug, a printed circuit within the housing, a switch which actuates the printed circuit board, and a translating crossbar which engages the switch. The printed circuit board is moved dependent upon a type of plug inserted. The movement of the circuit board can help to selectively engage one of two sets of circuit traces and groupings of contacts.
Claims19
A communication connector, comprising:
- a housing configured for receiving a communication plug;
- a printed circuit board at least partially within said housing;
- a switch at least partially within said housing, said switch configured for actuating said printed circuit board;
- and
- a translating crossbar at least partially within said housing, said translating crossbar engaging said switch.
A communication connector, comprising:
- a housing configured for receiving a communication plug;
- a printed circuit board at least partially within said housing;
- a switch at least partially within said housing, said switch configured for actuating said printed circuit board, said switch being electrically bonded to said housing.
A communication connector, comprising:
- a housing configured for receiving a communication plug;
- a printed circuit board at least partially within said housing;
- a switch at least partially within said housing, said switch configured for actuating said printed circuit board;
- a plurality of plug interface contacts at least partially within said housing, wherein said plurality of plug interface contacts minimizes impedance mismatch within said connector.
A communication system, comprising:
- a shielded communication cable having a shield surrounding a core of a plurality of twisted pairs of conductors, each of said plurality of twisted pairs of conductors including a foil wrap;
- and
- a communication connector connected to said shielded communication cable, said communication connector having a rear cap assembly including at least one grounding contact configured for contacting at least one said foil wrap.
A communication connector operable in a first frequency range and a second frequency range, said first frequency range having a first upper frequency limit and said second frequency range having a second frequency upper limit greater than said first upper limit, said communication connector comprising:
- a first circuitry operable in said first frequency range and compensating for a crosstalk in said first frequency range;
- and
- a second circuitry operable in said second frequency range and minimizing impedance discontinuity in said second frequency range.
