Abstract
The present invention can provide a 1,3-bis(hydroxyphenyl)-5-ethyladamantane compound represented by Formula (1) below and a method for producing the same, as well as an aromatic polycarbonate resin comprising said compound and a method for producing the same. (wherein, R represents an alkyl group with a carbon number of 1-6, a cycloalkyl group with a carbon number of 3-6, or a phenyl group, and n represents an integer of 0-2).

A 1,3-bis(hydroxyphenyl)-5-ethyladamantane compound represented by Formula (1) below:
- wherein R represents an alkyl group with a carbon number of 1-6, a cycloalkyl group with a carbon number of 3-6 or a phenyl group, and n represents an integer of 0-2.
A method for producing a 1,3-bis(hydroxyphenyl)-5-ethyladamantane compound represented by Formula (1) below, which comprises reacting 1,3-dihydroxy-5-ethyladamantane represented by the following structural formula with phenol or a substituted phenol in the presence of an acid catalyst:
An aromatic polycarbonate resin comprising a repeat unit represented by Formula (2) below and having a viscosity-average molecular weight of 1×104 to 5×104:
- wherein R represents an alkyl group with a carbon number of 1-6, a cycloalkyl group with a carbon number of 3-6 or a phenyl group, and n represents an integer of 0-2.
