Abstract
A sports electronic training system, and applications thereof, are disclosed. In an embodiment, the system comprises at least one monitor and an electronic processing device for receiving data from the at least one monitor and providing feedback to an individual based on the received data. The monitor can be a motion monitor that measures an individual's performance such as, for example, speed, pace and distance for a runner.

An article of footwear, comprising;
- a sole, the sole comprising a bottom surface and a top surface, the sole including a heel region, a forefoot region and a midfoot region, wherein the sole defines a recess in the midfoot region of the sole;
- a motion monitor housing having a first housing surface, wherein the first housing surface is disposed substantially parallel to the top surface of the sole;
- and
- a motion monitor disposed in the motion monitor housing, the motion monitor comprising an accelerometer, a memory, a personal area network transceiver, and a battery.
