Claims21
A device for collecting, onto a sample holder, a biological tissue carried on a shaft, the device comprising:
- a base;
- a lever;
- and
- a needle bed;
- wherein said needle bed is attached to one of said base or said lever, said needle bed configured to support, in a pre-defined position, a shaft configured for carrying the biological tissue;
- wherein the other one of said base or said lever is configured to support said sample holder, said sample holder being attachable thereto;
- wherein said lever is movable between settings relative to said base so that:
- in a first setting of said settings, said sample holder being attached to said device, and said needle bed, are distant from one another;
- and
- in a second setting of said settings, said sample holder and said needle bed are situated proximal to one another having a predefined arrangement relative to one another;
- wherein, in said second setting, said sample holder is configured to contact the biological tissue carried on the shaft;
- wherein the shaft is supported by said needle bed to thereby adhere to said biological tissue and detach said biological tissue from said shaft when said lever is moved from said second setting to said first setting.
A method for collecting, onto a sample holder, a biological tissue carried on a shaft, the method comprising:
- providing a device having a base, the device being configured to detachably attach to the sample holder, the device being further configured to detachably attach to a shaft configured for carrying the biological tissue so that when the shaft and the sample holder are attached to the device at least one of the shaft or the sample holder is movable relative to the base, the device having at least two settings, wherein:
- in a first setting of the at least two settings, the shaft and the sample holder are distant from one another;
- and
- in a second setting of the at least two settings, the shaft and the sample holder are situated proximal to one another, having a predefined arrangement relative to one another;
- attaching the sample holder to the device;
- attaching the shaft carrying the biological tissue to the device;
- moving at least one of the shaft or the sample holder relative to the base, so that the device is in the second setting to thereby adhere the biological tissue onto the sample holder;
- and
- moving at least one of the shaft or the sample holder relative to the base to thereby distance the sample holder and the shaft from one another and detach the biological tissue from the shaft, thereby collecting the biological tissue onto the sample holder.
A method of handling a biological tissue initially carried on a shaft, the method comprising:
- nearing the shaft with the biological tissue to a sample holder until the shaft is substantially parallel to the sample holder and the biological tissue contacts the sample holder, thereby adhering the biological tissue to the sample holder while maintaining a shape, a size and an orientation of the biological tissue;
- distancing the shaft from the sample holder, thereby detaching the biological tissue from the shaft;
- dehydrating the biological tissue, the biological tissue being adhered onto the sample holder;
- inspecting the biological tissue;
- and
- reporting results of said inspection, the results including data of size, shape, or location along the biological tissue.
