Abstract
The invention includes, in part, methods and apparatus for determining the status of labor in a pregnant subject. In some embodiments of the invention, organ-level uterine function is determined as a measure of the status of labor such as non-labor (e.g., false labor), latent phase labor, active phase labor, or post-delivery.
Claims20
An electromyography (EMG) recorder comprising:
- a plurality of inputs, each configured to receive respective EMG signals generated at a different, respective region of a subject's uterine wall;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- detect a contraction onset time for each of the respective EMG signals received at each of the plurality of inputs;
- detect a contraction offset time for each of the respective EMG signals received at each of the plurality of inputs;
- determine a contraction duration for each of the respective EMG signals received at each of the plurality of inputs;
- and
- calculate a synchronization factor responsive to the determined contraction durations for each of the respective EMG signals, a first of the contraction onset times, and a last of the contraction offset times.

A computer readable medium storing processor executable instructions that when executed one or more processors cause the one or more processors to:
- receive a plurality of electromyography (EMG) signals, each of the EMG signals generated at a different, respective region of a subject's uterine wall;
- detect a contraction onset time for each of the respective plurality of EMG signals;
- detect a contraction offset time for each of the respective plurality of EMG signals;
- determine a contraction duration for each of the respective plurality of EMG signals;
- and
- calculate a synchronization factor responsive to the determined contraction durations for each of the respective plurality of EMG signals, a first of the contraction onset times, and a last of the contraction offset times.
