Manipulation of content items

An apparatus for facilitating manipulation of content items, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory including computer program instructions;
• wherein the at least one memory and computer program instructions are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
• detect user input for selecting a plurality of content items;
• determine a selection direction in which the plurality of content items are selected;
• and
• in response to determining that the selection direction satisfies a predefined criterion, cause to display at least one functional item in a tool bar window for manipulating the selected plurality of content items.

A method of facilitating manipulation of content items, comprising:

• detecting user input for selecting a plurality of content items;
• determining a selection direction in which the plurality of content items are selected;
• in response to determining that the selection direction satisfies a predefined criterion, causing to display a tool bar window containing at least one application icon;
• detecting a selection of the application icon in the tool bar window;
• and
• launching an application corresponding to the selected application icon to manipulate the selected plurality of content items.
