Abstract
A cord tensioning device allows for a cord to be tightened around an object in a quick and easy-to-use manner. The cord tensioning device comprises a body having a front side, a back side, a left edge, a right edge, a top edge, and a bottom edge. At least two apertures are disposed through said body and at least one recessed slot is disposed in said body. At least one recessed slot extends from any of said edges.
Claims20
A cord tensioning device comprising:
- a. a body having
- i. a front side,
- ii. a back side,
- iii. a left edge,
- iv. a right edge,
- v. a top edge, and
- vi. a bottom edge;
- b. at least two apertures disposed through said body;
- and
- c. at least one recessed slot disposed in said body;
- wherein said at least one recessed slot extends from any of said edges.
In combination, a cord tensioning device and at least one cord incorporated into said cord tensioning device,
- a. said cord tensioning device comprising:
- i. a body having
- a front side,
- a back side,
- a left edge,
- a right edge,
- a top edge, and
- a bottom edge;
- ii. at least two apertures disposed through said body;
- and
- iii. at least one recessed slot disposed in said body wherein said at least one recessed slot extends from at least one of said edges;
- b. said at least one cord comprising:
- i. a first end, wherein said first end enters one of said at least two apertures of said cord tensioning device and exits another of said at least two apertures of said cord tensioning device;
- ii. a second end, wherein said second end enters one of said at least two apertures of said cord tensioning device and exits another of said at least two apertures of said cord tensioning device;
- and
- iii. an engagement portion, wherein said at least one recessed slot selectively engages the at least one cord at said engagement portion to prevent the cord tensioning device from rotating.
A method for tightening a cord, comprising the steps of:
- a. inserting a first end of at least one cord through a first path in a cord tensioning device, said cord tensioning device comprising:
- i. a body having
- a front side,
- a back side,
- a left edge,
- a right edge,
- a top edge,
- a bottom edge,
- at least two apertures disposed through said body, and
- at least one recessed slot disposed in said body, wherein said at least one recessed slot extends from any of said edges;
- b. inserting a second end of said at least one cord through a second path in said cord tensioning device, wherein said first and second paths extend through at least two of said apertures;
- c. rotating said cord tensioning device at about a center line on said front side, to tighten said cord;
- and
- d. inserting a portion of said at least one cord into said at least one recessed slot to retain said at least one cord in a tightened state in said cord tensioning device.
