A composition comprising an isolated mutant cocaine esterase (CocE) polypeptide comprising:
- an amino acid sequence having at least about 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1 having one or more substitutions at an amino acid position selected from the group consisting of C107, C429, and C551;
- wherein the polypeptide has cocaine esterase activity.
