Abstract
An absorbent article selected from a sanitary napkin, an incontinence pad and a pantyliner, comprising a topsheet layer a backsheet layer a fastening adhesive applied on the backsheet garment facing surface, wherein at least a portion of said fastening adhesive (PFA) is applied in a pattern and wherein said backsheet layer is a plastic film having a basis weight of less than 20 gsm.

An absorbent article, comprising:
- a longitudinal axis;
- a transversal axis;
- a topsheet layer;
- a backsheet layer;
- optionally one or more intermediate layers enclosed between said topsheet and said backsheet;
- and
- an undergarment fastening adhesive applied in a pattern on an exterior surface of said backsheet;
- wherein said backsheet layer comprises a plastic film having a basis weight of less than 22 grams per square meter;
- wherein said pattern comprises two or more spaced apart geometric figures comprising a major dimension and an optional minor dimension;
- and
- wherein said major dimension is oriented substantially perpendicular to a direction of article removal about its longitudinal axis from one's undergarment.
