## Abstract

A scanning microscope includes a scanner, an objective irradiates a sample with illumination light deflected by the scanner, and a beam splitter that is arranged between the objective and an exit pupil position, and that reflects one of the illumination light and observation light from the sample and transmits the other. The objective has the exit pupil position outside the objective.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A scanning microscope comprising:
a scanner that scans a sample with illumination light;
an objective that externally has an exit pupil position and irradiates the sample with the illumination light deflected by the scanner; and
a beam splitter that is arranged between the objective and the exit pupil position, and that reflects one of the illumination light and observation light from the sample, and transmits the other.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The scanning microscope according to claim 1, further comprising:
a non-descanned detector that detects the observation light via the objective and the beam splitter, not via the scanner.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The scanning microscope according to claim 2, further comprising:
a first relay optical system that is arranged between the exit pupil position of the objective and the non-descanned detector, and that projects a light receiving surface of the non-descanned detector between the sample and the exit pupil position.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The scanning microscope according to claim 3, further comprising:
a first adjustor that adjusts a position in which the first relay optical system projects the light receiving surface of the non-descanned detector.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The scanning microscope according to claim 1, further comprising:
a second relay optical system that projects the scanner in the exit pupil position; and
a second adjustor that adjusts a position in which the second relay optical system projects the scanner.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The scanning microscope according to claim 5, further comprising:
a third adjustor that adjusts a projection magnification of the second relay optical system.

### Claim 7 (depends on 2)

The scanning microscope according to claim 2, further comprising:
a second relay optical system that projects the scanner in the exit pupil position; and
a second adjustor that adjusts a position in which the second relay optical system projects the scanner.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The scanning microscope according to claim 7, further comprising:
a third adjustor that adjusts a projection magnification of the second relay optical system.

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)

The scanning microscope according to claim 3, further comprising:
a second relay optical system that projects the scanner in the exit pupil position; and
a second adjustor that adjusts a position in which the second relay optical system projects the scanner.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The scanning microscope according to claim 9, further comprising:
a third adjustor that adjusts a projection magnification of the second relay optical system.

### Claim 11 (depends on 4)

The scanning microscope according to claim 4, further comprising:
a second relay optical system that projects the scanner in the exit pupil position; and
a second adjustor that adjusts a position in which the second relay optical system projects the scanner.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The scanning microscope according to claim 11, further comprising:
a third adjustor that adjusts a projection magnification of the relay optical system.

### Claim 13

A scanning microscope comprising:
scanning means for scanning a sample with illumination light;
an objective that externally has an exit pupil position and irradiates the sample with the illumination light deflected by the scanner; and
beam splitting means for reflecting one of the illumination light and observation light from the sample, and transmitting the other, the beam splitting means being arranged between the objective and the exit pupil position.
