Abstract
A live-fire simulation system uses a position sensitive detector (PSD) in a weapon-mounted sensor to intercept emitted light from target emitters spatially distributed about a target. Each target emitter is modulated with a unique frequency. The system can thus not only determine the points of interception on the PSD but also determine which emitter caused which interception by using a frequency analysis.

(canceled)
A system comprising:
- a detector comprising a lateral effect photodiode comprising a single contiguous active area configured to receive, at corresponding positions on the active area, uniquely modulated light from a plurality of emitters, wherein the detector is configured to generate output signals based on the received light;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- determine spectrums associated with the output signals, and
- calculate, using the spectrums, pointing angles from the detector to the emitters.
