Abstract
A communication system, method, and components are described. Specifically, a communication system that supports dynamic device pairing of communication devices is described. Such pairing is accomplished using a feature or pairing server, without requiring modification to associated communication endpoints. Moreover, sequenced applications can be applied for all communication endpoints when pairing is in effect.

1-37. (canceled)
A communication system, comprising:
- a microprocessor;
- and
- a computer readable medium coupled to the microprocessor and comprising a dynamic device pairing application that causes the microprocessor to pair a first communication device with a second communication device and provisioning data comprising a record of a pairing relationship between the first communication device and second communication device, wherein the first communication device is a pairing communication device and wherein the second communication device is a paired communication device;
- wherein the microprocessor:
- intercepts a call with respect to the first communication device prior to delivery of the call;
- and
- applies the dynamic device pairing application to the call that causes the microprocessor, in accordance with the record of the pairing relationship, to establish a media session between the second communication device and a third communication device as part of the call, wherein a media stream of the media session is not provided to the first communication device.

A communication system, comprising:
- a microprocessor;
- and
- a computer readable medium coupled to the microprocessor and comprising a dynamic device pairing application that causes the microprocessor to pair a first communication device with a second communication device and provisioning data comprising a record of a pairing relationship between the first and second communication devices, wherein the first communication device is a pairing communication device, and wherein the second communication device is a paired communication device;
- wherein the microprocessor:
- intercepts a call with respect to the first communication device prior to delivery of the call;
- and
- applies the dynamic device pairing application to the call that causes the microprocessor, in accordance with the record of the pairing relationship, to establish a media session between the second communication device and a third communication device as part of the call, wherein a media stream of the media session is provided to the second communication device.
4 more elements
An enterprise communication system, comprising:
- a microprocessor;
- a computer readable medium coupled to the microprocessor and comprising an origination sequence of applications that are applied to a call, the origination sequence of applications causing the microprocessor to apply origination restrictions on the call, and provisioning data comprising a record of a pairing relationship between a first communication device and a second communication device, wherein the first communication device is a pairing communication device and wherein the second communication device is a paired communication device;
- and
- wherein the microprocessor:
- intercepts the call prior to delivery of the call;
- and
- applies a first sequenced application of the origination sequence of applications to the call that causes the microprocessor, in accordance with the record of the pairing relationship, to establish a media session between the second communication device and a third communication device as part of the call, wherein a media stream of the media session is provided to the second communication device but not to the first communication device, and wherein the origination sequence of applications comprises a second application that causes the microprocessor to provide one of the following features to the call:
- call recording, find-me/follow-me, extension to cellular, call forwarding, call coverage, encryption, security, call logging, call history, presence, context, text-to-speech, or speech-to-text.
