Techniques for ascribing social attributes to content

A computer-implemented method, comprising:

• generating social attribute information associated with at least one content item, the social attribute information identifying respective member profile attributes of each of the reference members of an online social network that submitted social activity signals related to the at least one content item;
• storing, via at least on processor, the social attribute information in at least one database in association with the at least one content item;
• based on determining a match between the social attribute information and at least one member profile attributes of a target member of the online social network, displaying the at least one content item in a content feed viewable by the target member, wherein the content feed includes an identification of at least one of the reference members.

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:

• generating social attribute information associated with at least one content item, the social attribute information identifying respective member profile attributes of each of the reference members of an online social network that submitted social activity signals related to the at least one content item,
• storing, via at least on processor, the social attribute information in at least one database in association with the at least one content item;
• based on determining a match between the social attribute information and at least one member profile attributes of a target member of the online social network, displaying the at least one content item in a content feed viewable by the target member, wherein the content feed includes an identification of at least one of the reference members.
