Abstract
Packet transmission techniques are disclosed herein. An exemplary method includes receiving a packet that identifies an internet protocol (IP) address assigned to more than one destination node; selecting a virtual routing and forwarding table based, at least in part, on a segmentation identification in the packet; identifying a designated destination node in the packet based, at least in part, on the selected virtual routing and forwarding table; and transmitting the packet to the designated destination node.

An apparatus comprising:
- a memory configured to store data;
- a processor operable to execute instructions associated with the data, wherein the processor and memory cooperate such that the apparatus is configured to:
- receive a packet that identifies an internet protocol (IP) address assigned to more than one destination node;
- select a virtual routing and forwarding table based, at least in part, on a segmentation identification in the packet;
- identify a designated destination node in the packet based, at least in part, on the selected virtual routing and forwarding table;
- and
- transmit the packet to the designated destination node.
A method, comprising:
- receiving a packet that identifies an internet protocol (IP) address assigned to more than one destination node;
- selecting a virtual routing and forwarding table based, at least in part, on a segmentation identification in the packet;
- identifying a designated destination node in the packet based, at least in part, on the selected virtual routing and forwarding table;
- and
- transmitting the packet to the designated destination node.
A non-transitory media encoded with logic that includes instructions for execution, and when executed by a processor is configured to perform operations, comprising:
- receiving a packet that identifies an internet protocol (IP) address assigned to more than one destination node;
- selecting a virtual routing and forwarding table based, at least in part, on a segmentation identification in the packet;
- identifying a designated destination node in the packet based, at least in part, on the selected virtual routing and forwarding table;
- and
- transmitting the packet to the designated destination node.
