Abstract
A configuration and a method of constructing a high-temperature superconductor tape including a plurality superconducting filaments sandwiched between a substrate and an overlayer, and having a compliant material extending between the substrate and the overlayer and isolating each superconducting filament.
Claims22
A HTS tape structure comprising:
- a substrate;
- a superconducting layer supported on the substrate, having at least one gap therein;
- a compliant material layer, deposited on the substrate;
- and
- an overlayer,
- wherein the compliant material layer is present in the gap of the superconducting layer.
3 more elements
A superconductor structure comprising:
- a substrate
- a superconducting layer supported by the substrate;
- a compliant material layer deposited on the superconducting layer;
- and
- an overlayer,
- wherein the superconducting layer comprises a plurality of gaps having a width of less than about 100 μm, and
- wherein the compliant material layer is present in the gaps.
4 more elements
The superconductor structure of claim 7 wherein the gaps are generally aligned along the length of the tape.
A superconducting tape comprising:
- a plurality of superconducting filaments supported on a substrate;
- a compliant material layer supported on the superconducting filaments;
- and
- an overlayer supported on the compliant material layer;
- wherein the compliant material is disposed between the superconducting filaments and extends between the substrate and the overlayer.
2 more elements
A structure comprising:
- a plurality of superconducting filaments supported on a substrate and having gaps between each filament;
- and
- an overlayer disposed atop the filaments and extending into the gaps between the superconducting filaments and contacting the support substrate;
- wherein the gaps between each filament are less than about 100 μm wide.
1 more element
A method for assembling a superconductor, comprising:
- depositing a superconducting material on a substrate;
- forming gaps in the superconducting material;
- and
- depositing a compliant material on the superconducting material;
- wherein the compliant material extends into the gaps in the superconducting material.
