System, computer program product, and method for generating a lightweight source code for implementing an image processing pipeline

A method, comprising:

• receiving a specification for an image processing pipeline based on configuration settings associated with a user interface of a viewer application, wherein the specification is further based on a data structure or a current state of the configuration settings;
• generating a graphics language (GL) representation of the image processing pipeline based on the specification;
• and
• causing the GL representation to be compiled via a compile service to generate a binary executable instantiation of the image processing pipeline for execution on one or more graphics processing unit (GPU) cores.

A system, comprising:

• a host processor configured to:
• receive a specification for an image processing pipeline based on configuration settings associated with a user interface of a viewer application, wherein the specification is further based on a data structure or a current state of the configuration settings,
• generate a graphics language (GL) representation of the image processing pipeline based on the specification, and
• cause the GL representation to be compiled via a compile service to generate a binary executable instantiation of the image processing pipeline;
• and
• one or more graphics processing unit (GPU) cores coupled to the host processor and configured to execute the binary executable instantiation of the image processing pipeline.
