Abstract
The invention is a multiplex, pulsed-field capillary electrophoresis instrument with the ability to analyze DNA fragments with sizes greater than 50,000 bp, greater than 100,000 bp and even granter than 150,000 base pairs. The parallel capillary electrophoresis system allows for the simultaneous analysis of at least 12 samples while applying a pulse or varying electric field for separation.
Claims9
An Electrophoresis console for multiplex pulse-field electrophoresis capable of measuring larger than 50,000 bp comprising:
- a console housing an operable multiplexed capillary electrophoresis system with a multiplex capillary array;
- and
- a pulse-field power supply for applying an alternating electric field for electrophoresis on all capillaries of said multiplex capillary array simultaneously.
A pulse-field electrophoresis console to enhance workflow, comprising;
- a console housing an operable pulse-field multiplexed capillary electrophoresis system;
- a plurality of externally accessible drawers for holding sample plates or buffer plates in said console;
- and
- a motion control system built within said console to move said sample plates or buffer plates from said drawers to an injection position of said multiplexed capillary electrophoresis system.
In a multiplex capillary electrophoresis device, the improvement comprising:
- in combination with said electrophoresis device:
- a pulse-field power supply;
- a sample loader;
- and a sample transporter.
In an electrophoresis console which includes within it:
- a capillary array with a plurality of capillaries that can be filled with an electrophoresis medium;
- and a fluid handling system for injecting said capillaries with said electrophoresis medium or other fluids, the improvement comprising a pulse-field power supply for applying an alternating electric field for electrophoresis on all capillaries of said capillary array simultaneously.
