Abstract
An inexpensive thermopile temperature detector is particularly adapted to monitoring of electrical equipment, such as a power bus bar, within an enclosed area such as a cabinet. The detector may have a plastic housing, a thermopile sensor and a plastic Fresnel lens. Each sensor also includes a calibrated element such that, but for calibration, the same sensor may be used for various applications for different target sizes and distance or, more generally, with respect to effective target percentage of field of view.
Claims20
A method of enabling electrical equipment monitoring, the method comprising:
- providing plural sensors configured to be positioned to view respective target elements of electrical equipment at respective distances therefrom, with a field of view of at least one sensor extending beyond an edge of the respective target element;
- and
- calibrating the sensors with respect to different respective target distances between sensors and respective target elements.
A set for electrical equipment monitoring, the set comprising:
- plural sensors configured to be positioned to view respective target elements of the electrical equipment at respective target distances therefrom, with a field of view of at least one sensor extending beyond an edge of the respective target element;
- and
- plural calibration elements adjusted to calibrate respective sensors with respect to respective target distances between sensors and respective target elements.
A method of enabling electrical equipment monitoring, the method comprising:
- providing plural sensors configured to be positioned to view respective target elements of the electrical equipment with respective target widths, with a field of view of at least one sensor extending beyond an edge of the respective target element;
- and
- calibrating each of the sensors with respect to a different one of the respective target widths.
