Abstract
Apparatus for measuring an article having a wall with a first surface and an opposing surface, the apparatus having a bearing structure configured to support the first surface, and a probe in a fixed lateral position relative to the bearing structure that is configured to be biased against the opposing surface, the apparatus further comprising a detector that detects the relative spacing of the probe and the bearing, and an actuator for translating the component laterally relative to the bearing structure.

Apparatus for measuring an article having a wall with a first surface and an opposing surface, the apparatus having a bearing structure configured to support the first surface, and a probe in a fixed lateral position relative to the bearing structure that is configured to be biased against the opposing surface, the apparatus further comprising a detector that detects the relative spacing of the probe and the bearing, and an actuator for translating the article laterally relative to the bearing structure.
A method of measuring the profile of a surface of an article, the method comprising the steps of providing apparatus having a bearing structure supporting a first surface of the article and a probe in a fixed lateral position relative to the bearing structure, biasing the probe against an opposing surface of the article and translating the article relative to the bearing structure.
