Abstract
An oscillating rotating engine has one or more rotating and oscillating rotors traveling around a shaft, crankshaft or central axis. As the rotor oscillates and rotates in one consistent motion, successive chambers are positioned at intake, compression, ignition, and exhaust locations to complete the two or four cycle combustion sequence, one or more times per rotation in relation to the accompanying housings. Igniting the air-fuel mixture in the ignition position causes the rotor to oscillate and rotate, and if present, rotate the crank shaft.
Claims14
A oscillating rotating engine comprising:
- a. An outer housing,
- b. One or more oscillating rotors mounted for rotation and oscillation in the housing, the oscillating rotor comprising
- i. A plurality of crests and valleys expanding radially from the central point on the oscillating rotor, defining at least one chamber extending radially outward from the center, and between adjacent crests, and in relation to the front or back housings,
- ii. an opening in the center of the oscillating rotor with connecting mechanism to a crank shaft,
- c. a front housing and back housing enclosing each oscillating rotor within the outer housing;
- each front and back housing comprising;
- i. A plurality of crests and valleys expanding radially from the central point on the housing, defining at least one chamber extending radially outward from the center, and between adjacent crests, and in relation to the oscillating rotor
- ii. an opening in the center of at least one housing allowing the crankshaft to pass through,
