Abstract
A cyanoacrylate composition, comprising: (a) at least one 2-cyanoacrylate ester; and (b) at least one monoether of a hydroxyl-terminated ethylene glycol-propylene glycol co-polymer. The composition can be applied to a variety of materials and is particularly suitable as a biomedical adhesive. The invention also provides a method of closing a wound comprising, applying to the wound the above 2-cyanoacrylate ester composition.
Claims21
A method for manufacturing a low density cloth preform, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving cloth preform material atop a foam base, wherein the cloth preform material has a top surface;
- needling the cloth preform material with a plurality of barbed needles, wherein prior to needling the top surface has a first elevation and during needling the top surface is deflected downward to an elevation lower than the first elevation;
- and
- after needling, determining a second elevation of the top surface of the cloth preform material at a location distant from the plurality of barbed needles;
- wherein the foam base has a resiliency sufficient to cause the top surface of the cloth preform material to rebound in an upward direction such that the second elevation substantially equals the first elevation.
A method for manufacturing a low density cloth preform, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving cloth preform material atop a foam base, wherein the cloth preform material has a top surface;
- needling the cloth preform material with a first plurality of barbed needles, wherein the top surface has a first elevation prior to needling with the first plurality of barbed needles and a second elevation after needling with the first plurality of barbed needles that is lower than the first elevation;
- needling the cloth preform material with a second plurality of barbed needles, wherein the top surface has a third elevation prior to needling with the second plurality of barbed needles and a fourth elevation after needling with the second plurality of needling that is lower than the first elevation;
- and
- measuring a fifth elevation of the top surface of the cloth preform material at a location distant from the second plurality of barbed needles;
- wherein the foam base has a resiliency sufficient to cause the top surface of the cloth preform material to rebound in an upward direction after needling the cloth preform material with the second plurality of barbed needles such that the fifth elevation substantially equals the first elevation.
A method for manufacturing a low density cloth preform, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving cloth preform material atop a foam base, wherein the cloth preform material has a top surface and the foam base has a rebound rate;
- moving the cloth preform material and foam base along an arcuate path beneath a needle board having a plurality of barbed needles extending from the needle board and beneath a sensor for determining the elevation of the top surface of the cloth preform material;
- needling the cloth preform material with the plurality of barbed needles as the cloth preform material moves beneath the needle board;
- and
- allowing the foam base to rebound after moving beneath the needle board and before moving beneath the sensor such that the elevation of the top surface of the cloth preform material at the sensor is substantially equal to the elevation of the top surface of the cloth preform material prior to needling.
