Abstract
Polypeptides and recombinant DNA molecules useful for conferring tolerance to AOPP herbicides, phenoxy acid herbicides, and pyridinyloxy acid herbicides are provided in the present invention, as well as herbicide tolerant transgenic plants, seeds, cells, and plant parts containing the recombinant DNA molecules, as well as methods of using the same.

A recombinant DNA molecule comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide having at least 92% identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46-52.
A polypeptide having at least 92% identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46-52.
A method for producing an herbicide tolerant transgenic plant comprising transforming a plant cell or tissue with a recombinant DNA molecule comprising a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- a) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46-52;
- b) a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10,12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30, 32, 33, 35, 36, 38, 39, 41, 42, 44, 45 and 53-59;
- and
- c) a nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide having at least 92% identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46-52, and capable of conferring herbicide tolerance to a transgenic plant;
- and regenerating an herbicide tolerant transgenic plant from the transformed plant cell or tissue.
A method for controlling weeds in a plant growth area, comprising contacting a plant growth area comprising a plant or seed comprising a recombinant DNA molecule comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein having at least 92% identity to an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, and 46-52 with at least one herbicide selected from the group consisting of AOPP herbicides, phenoxy acid herbicides, and pyridinyloxy acid herbicides, wherein the plant or seed is tolerant to the at least one herbicide.
