Peptide stimulator of cell survival and proliferation

Abstract

The invention provides a novel peptide, and derivatives thereof, which is stable in aqueous solution and which stimulates proliferation and survival of endothelial cells and/or fibroblasts. The present peptide can be used at least to promote the S phase of the cell cycle, to stimulate production of extracellular matrix proteins, to reduce apoptosis, to inhibit production of reactive oxygen species and/or to reduce or prevent damage to cell integrity or morphology under stress conditions of serum deprivation.
