Abstract
Disclosed is a method of producing carbon monoxide (CO) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), the method comprising obtaining a reaction mixture comprising carbon dioxide gas (CO2(g)) and elemental sulfur gas (S(g)), and subjecting the reaction mixture to conditions sufficient to produce a product stream comprising CO(g) and SO2(g).
Claims27
A method of producing carbon monoxide (CO) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), the method comprising:
- (a) obtaining a reaction mixture comprising carbon dioxide gas (CO2(g)) and elemental sulfur gas (S(g));
- and
- (b) subjecting the reaction mixture to conditions sufficient to produce a product stream comprising CO(g) and SO2(g).
A system for producing carbon monoxide (CO) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), the system comprising:
- an inlet for a feed comprising a carbon dioxide gas (CO2(g)) and elemental sulfur gas (S(g)) or a first inlet for a feed comprising CO2(g) and a second inlet for a feed comprising S(g);
- and
- a reactor comprising a reaction zone that is configured to be in fluid communication with the inlet or inlets, wherein the reaction zone comprises CO2(g) and S(g);
- and
- an outlet configured to be in fluid communication with the reaction zone to remove a product stream comprising CO(g) and SO2(g).
A reaction mixture comprising carbon dioxide gas (CO2(g)) and elemental sulfur gas (S(g)).
A product stream comprising carbon monoxide gas CO(g) and sulfur dioxide gas SO2(g).
