A driver assistance system (1) for a motor vehicle (2) is provided including a control device (3), with the control device (3) being designed to carry out a position control of the driving movement of the vehicle. The invention also relates to a method for assisting the driver of a motor vehicle (2), in which the following step is carried out: a position control of the driving movement of the vehicle is carried out by a control device (3).
