Abstract
Embodiments of golf balls and methods to manufacture golf balls are generally described herein. In one example, a golf ball may include a plurality of round dimples and a plurality of non-round dimples. Each round dimple may have a dimple diameter, and each non-round dimple may have a dimple diagonal. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.
Claims20
A golf ball comprising:
- an outside surface having a plurality of quadrant regions having a first set of quadrant regions and a second set of quadrant regions;
- and
- a plurality of dimples, each dimple having a dimple diameter length, at least one dimple in each of the first and second set of quadrant regions being associated with a minimum dimple diameter length, and at least one dimple in each of the first and second set of quadrant regions being associated with a maximum dimple diameter length,
- wherein the maximum dimple diameter length of the dimples in each quadrant region of the first set of quadrant regions is greater than the maximum dimple diameter length of the dimples in each quadrant region of the second set of quadrant regions.

A golf ball comprising:
- an outside surface having a plurality of quadrant regions having a first set of quadrant regions and a second set of quadrant regions;
- and
- a plurality of dimples comprising round dimples and non-round dimples, each round dimple of the plurality of dimples having a dimple diameter length, each non-round dimple of the plurality of non-round dimples having a dimple diagonal length, at least one round dimple being associated with a minimum dimple diameter length, at least one round dimple being associated with a maximum dimple diameter length, and at least one non-round dimple being associated with a minimum dimple diagonal length;
- wherein the minimum dimple diagonal length is less than the minimum dimple diameter length,
- wherein each non-round dimple of each quadrant region of the first set of quadrant regions is adjacent to a non-round dimple of an adjacent quadrant region of the first set of quadrant regions, and
- wherein each non-round dimple of each quadrant region of the second set of quadrant regions is surrounded by round dimples of the same quadrant region.

A golf ball comprising:
- an outside surface having a plurality of quadrant regions having a first set of quadrant regions and a second set of quadrant regions;
- and
- a plurality of dimples comprising round dimples and non-round dimples, each round dimple of the plurality of dimples having a dimple diameter length and each non-round dimple of the plurality of dimples having a dimple diagonal length, at least one round dimple being associated with a minimum dimple diameter length, at least one round dimple being associated with a maximum dimple diameter length, and at least one non-round dimple being associated with a minimum dimple diagonal length;
- wherein the dimples defining a center portion of each quadrant region of the first set of quadrant regions have the maximum dimple diameter length,
- wherein the dimples defining a center portion of each quadrant region of the second set of quadrant regions have the largest dimple diameter length of the second set of quadrant regions,
- wherein dimples defining the vertices of each quadrant region of the first set of quadrant regions have the minimum dimple diameter length or the minimum dimple diagonal length, and
- wherein the dimples defining the sides of each quadrant region of the first set of quadrant regions increase in dimple diameter length or dimple diagonal length from the vertices of the quadrant region to a center portion of each side of the quadrant region.
